Qantas CEO is back on business
Vanessa Hudson has returned to her rightful place, seated at the front of the aircraft. On Friday, she was seen flying business class on QF1507 from Sydney to Canberra.
Initially, she had made a point of flying economy on her appointment day, garnering significant media attention. However, it seems that this gesture did not last long.
While it is uncommon for top CEOs to fly economy, some do so when traveling domestically. Alan Joyce, for example, flew economy at least once to demonstrate the safety of air travel during the pandemic. Similarly, Hudson chose to fly economy on her first day as CEO to set a more modest tone for her leadership.
However, it was inevitable that eyebrows would be raised once she resumed flying in the manner that she, as a longstanding Qantas executive, has likely been accustomed to.
When asked if the new chief continued to fly economy or had done so again after her initial experience in early September, a Qantas spokesperson informed us that Hudson flies in all cabins, including Jetstar from time to time. This occurs only rarely, without a doubt.
