India highest paid CEO

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte emerged as the highest-paid CEO in India with a salary of over Rs 82 crore this financial year, beating executives of rival IT companies HCL Technologies and TCS. Delaporte joined Wipro in 2020 and launched a 10 billion transformation journey.

In an interview with Forbes, Delaporte shared that meeting Wipro's founder and chairman Azim Premji and his son Rishad changed his thinking about his future and he took on the CEO role due to their shared values and priorities.

"Azim is an incredible human and entrepreneur, and, at the same time, a philanthropist," Thierry Delaporte told the publication. "Then I spent three or four hours with the current chairman--and Azim’s son--Rishad Premji.  

Meanwhile, Infosys's Salil Parekh emerged as the country's second-highest-paid CEO, an analysis of the Bombay Stock Exchange 500 companies on the stock market by Economic Times showed.

He drew a salary of Rs 56.45 crore this year and was followed by Tech Mahindra CEO CP Gurnani in the third spot with a total compensation of Rs 30 crore. In fourth place is former TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan who earned over Rs 29 crore in FY23 -- a 13 percent increase from his earnings last year.
