Musk offers a position to OpenAI chief scientist

Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI's Chief Scientist and co-founder, has been offered a position at Tesla and xAI by Elon Musk. Sutskever helped the board members at OpenAI to dismiss Sam Altman but later regretted his decision. Altman returned as CEO of OpenAI only five days later.

Whole Mars Catalog, a user on X, shared a news headline stating that "OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever has become invisible at the company, with his future uncertain, insider say." He captioned the screenshot with "Ilya should come work at Tesla!" Elon Musk responded to this post by saying "Or xAI," indicating that he is interested in having Ilya join either Tesla or xAI, an AI company.

After a news headline suggested that Sutskever had become "invisible" at OpenAI with an uncertain future, Elon Musk expressed interest in having him join either Tesla or xAI. However, Altman clarified that he harbors no ill will towards Sutskever and hopes to continue their working relationship at OpenAI.

Greg Brockman, President and co-founder of OpenAI, quit the company after Altman's departure but later posted a picture with Sutskever, hinting that things are now well between them.

Initially, it seemed that Sutskever was the mastermind behind the OpenAI board's coup. However, in a surprising twist, he later expressed remorse for his role in Altman's ousting. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "I deeply regret my involvement in the board's actions. I never intended to harm OpenAI. I cherish everything we've created together and will do everything possible to reunite the organization." He also signed a letter with 500 OpenAI employees threatening to resign and join Microsoft unless Altman was reinstated.
